Fyran Marine Limited
Fyran Marine Limited is based in Auckland New Zealand, and manufactures
aluminium boats ranging in size from 2.4 metre dinghies to 7.6 metre cabin boats.
These are widely used for tenders, commercial operations, family cruising, water
skiing, serious sport fishing and recreational fishing. The range of boats is the most
extensive of any manufacturer in New Zealand.
Fyran Marine operates from a purpose built plant in East Tamaki, 30 minutes from
downtown Auckland CDB and shipping port, and 20 minutes from Auckland
International airport. The sales office and management team also operate from that
site.
A new CNC computer router was installed in 2007 to efficiently cut the aluminium
prior to construction. All welding of the hulls, (both TIG and MIG) and pressing of
components is done on site and also the final finishing of the boats including sourcing
and installing a variety of components such as seats, steering, windscreens.
The aluminium is sourced from several different NZ agents who import it from a
number of overseas mills. Different grades of aluminium are used for different parts
of the boat construction. Thinner aluminium arrives in coil and is cut to length, and
thicker aluminium is imported already cut to specific lengths to minimise wastage.
Aluminium extrusions, which are a key part of the Fyran efficient and fast production
method, are extruded locally using exclusive Fyran designed dies.
Painting of the hulls is outsourced and so is trailer manufacture.
When the boat finally leaves the factory it just needs the engine installed at the
dealer’s yard and it is ready for the water.
The range is distributed through a national network of marine dealers, and also
exported directly from the East Tamaki site, to a number of Pacific Island countries as
well as Thailand, Korea, and the Middle East.
The Product
Fyran has been manufacturing aluminium boats for over 40 years. Fyran has become
the benchmark for design and construction of trailer boats in NZ and the brand is one
of the most recognized and respected brands in the industry.
The boats are also ideal for Dry stack storage and use, as well as traditional NZ trailer
operation and towing behind the family car, for beach and boat ramp launching.
The tradition of quality, innovation, and manufacturing excellence has ensured that
the Fyran boats continue to provide pleasure craft that feature superior strength,
performance, and functionality in the most stylish production aluminium boats on the
market.
All boats 5 metres and over are CPC rated which is the NZ marine safety standard
established by the Marine Industry Association and the NZ Coastguard. This rating
ensures the boats are unsinkable and is the boaties guarantee of safe boating. This is
achieved with a combination of foam flotation and sealed air chambers.
They can also be CE rated for French territories and also pass the stringent NZ Marine
survey certification for commercial operators.
The boats all have an extensive range of standard features but can also be readily
customized to suit the exact customer requirements with a wide variety of factory
optional extras.
In fact it is rare that 2 identical boats leave the factory. Most have personalized
colours, upholstery, seat styles, rod holders, walk through transoms etc.
In 2007, 2008, 2009 and again in 2010, Fyran extensively upgraded the range of
models. We have introduced fibreglass cabin models, which allow smooth curves and
attractive features not achievable in aluminium. These fibreglass tops are then
attached to the rugged aluminium hulls to create the best of both types of boats. I.e. a
strong lightweight aluminium hull, and a smooth attractive curvy cabin and dashboard
area. This concept is unique to Fyran and now we have 6 new designs using this
process.
We have also produced new designs in smaller sizes to accommodate inshore fishing
and small engine requirements.
New transom designs with longer waterline length and more aft buoyancy were
introduced on larger models in 2008. In early 2009 the 500 and 595 series were
introduced and late in 2009 the 645 series, and then in 2010 the 475 and 575 Rebels.
These were designed specifically for the serious recreational fisherman.
Fyran build between 300 and 500 boats per year depending on local market and
export demand.
The Mission
Fyran Boats will continue to build the best aluminium boats in NZ at affordable
prices. We will maintain our reputation for strength, reliability and safety, and most
importantly enhance the brand image by providing exceptional boating experiences to
a wide variety of New Zealanders.
Boat City is the only only authorized Fyran dealer for Wellington, Kapiti coast, Wairarapa, Palmerston north, wanganui and lower Hawkes bay.
